The House My Mother Loves
Ok I love it too. How could anyone not fall in love with a house like this even its its not the most practical of houses to live in. This elegant home designed for a gentle slope is 6728 square feet, 5 bathroom, 6 bedroom, 3 car garage beauty called The Cordelia.
Can you find the kitchen???? It took me a while and then I realized its in the keep. The laundry room is enormous with an island in it. Thats the first time I've seen a laundry room with an island in it. I love the fact that you can access the study from both the Master Bedroom and the Foyer and the fact that the foyer is round like that. I think the Verona below had a much nicer master bathroom though. That long hallway leading to the garage is a very nice elegant feature though. I can imagine those windows looking over a beautiful garden of my creation.
The second floor features 3 suites and an apartment above the garage thats separate from the house. This would make an excellent apartment for the household help. If your going to have a house this big your going to need a full time house keeper.
In the basement you will find a gym, an office, another bedroom (this one without its own bathroom). Another bathroom, and a wine cellar. The mechanical room I think should probably be turned into the bedroom with its own private bathroom. This would make another excellent room for help. I'm sure your going to need more than one after all.

Amicalola Lodge
. This is a beautiful timber frame house I found in a section of lake house floor plans. Timber framing is the method of creating framed structures of heavy timber jointed together with pegged mortise and tenon joints. These heavy timbers and joints are visible on the inside of the house and often quiet beautiful as you can see by the interior pictures below. This one is by far one of the more beautiful houses I have seen lately.

The Verona
The living area is in the second floor with lots of windows to take advantage of what would be panoramic views from my home site (if I got to build where I would like to build). There is one rounded living area and one second bedroom on the second floor that my husband thought would make a better "Man Cave". He felt that the rounded area on the third floor could be enclosed for a second bedroom. You would just have to put a security camera in the hallway to keep an eye on things. The kitchen is in this great room like second floor as well as 1 half bath just off the dinning area and one full bath off of the bedroom/man cave.
On the third floor you will find the master sweet, another bedroom, and a magnificent round study (home office) with its own half bath. One again the windows and the positioning of the house take advantage of panoramic views (that I would have in my chosen area) and a perfect master bathroom. I insist that a master bathroom have a big round tub that is sit up almost like an alter and this one is no exception to the rule.
There is a spiral staircase leading to the flat roof and a roof deck taking true advantage of the spectacular sweeping views this house would offer in almost any location. The house is 45 feet tall (although no indication is given to ceiling height I'm going to take a guess and say each level would offer ceiling at least 10 feet or taller), stucco, and offers 3 rounded towers as an architectural feature. Its my personal opinion that these beautiful towers make the house look like a castle. I do think the house would look better painted a golden yellow color with blue gray slate tiles on the roof, but thats just my opinion.

What this Blog is About
I love houses. I've always loved houses. To me a house is more than just a place to put your things and or a roof to keep the elements off of your head. Different kinds of homes create a different feeling when you live in them and thats what I'm going to talk about in this blog.
